World Premiere of Beaches Musical to Play D.C.’s Signature Theatre Next Year
You read it right! A new, musical adaptation of Beaches will have its world premiere at the Tony Award honored Signature Theatre in Washington, DC next year. The musical, based on the Iris Dart novel, which inspired the iconic 1988 film of the same name, will play February 18-March 23, 2014.

The musical will be directed by Eric Schaeffer, with book and lyrics by Rainer Dart and Thom Thomas and music by David Austin.
The film adaptation, starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey, was directed by Gary Marshall. You might recall its signature song, “Wind Beneath My Wing,” which was awarded Grammy awards for Record of the Year and Song if the Year.
