Haven’t been able to get tickets to 2011’s Tony Award winner for best musical? Don’t worry. You’ve got plenty of time to see the show that has had everyone raving. The Book of Mormon’s original principal cast has extended their contracts through February 2013. Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, Nikki M. James, Rory O’Malley, Michael Potts, along with Lewis Cleale and Brian Tyree Henry have all agreed to continue on with the Tony Award-winning musical for another year.
Camaraderie seems to be in abundance amongst the BOM cast. Josh Gad who plays Elder Cunningham in the production noted that while his knees may pay the price, he couldn’t imagine leaving the show just yet. Gad is quoted to have said, “I feel like it is unfair to let my co-stars continue having all the fun without me.” Similarly, Tony Award winner for Best Featured Actress Nikki M. James says she is “madly in love with [her] co-stars and cast mates.”
The Book of Mormon is the winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical. It features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. The production is directed by Nicholaw and Parker. The show will celebrate its one-year Broadway anniversary on February 24, 2012.
