Square-TA-Logo-grossesBroadway grosses remained flat from last week as the last four shows of the ’12-’13, Pippin,  I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue MengersThe Trip to BountifulThe Testament of Mary, season opened on Broadway. The top three money winners were the same as every week since The Book of Mormon opened in 2011, with The Lion King and Wicked in the top two spots. With all the new shows coming into the market, some shows are feeling the squeeze, in particular, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and  Annie, both of which grossed less than their average take and according to reports, below their operating costs. With the announcement of the Tony Awards nominations today, several shows will get a boost in sales while others will continue to suffer the glut in the market place.

Overall there was a slight decrease in number of tickets sold but an increase in revenue per seat which made up for the lost sales and kept the total gross as high as the previous week.
