Once has a book by Irish playwright and screenwriter Enda Walsh. Both the film and musical tell the story of an Irish musician (Guy) and a Czech immigrant (Girl) who are drawn together by their mutual love for music. Over the course of one week, a friendship/collaboration quickly evolves into a strong yet complicated love story. The famed music by the film’s songwriters Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová drive the show with understated charm, and the film’s strong following generated considerable audiences.
