TVLine reports that Jaime Cepero will reprise his role as world’s most horrible assistant, Ellis, in the upcoming second season of “Smash.” It was previously reported that Cepero would not return to the series, along with Raza Jaffrey (Dev), Brian d’Arcy James (Frank Houston) and Will Chase (Michael Swift). Josh Safran, new Smash show runner, hinted that Cepero’s appearance may be in the form of flashbacks.
The second season will include at least 15 episodes, under the supervision of Josh Safran (Gossip Girl) who replaced Theresa Rebeck as show runner. Rebeck will retain her holding as the executive producer.
In it’s first season Smash averaged about 7.7 million total viewers, with a 2.6 demographic rating, representing NBC’s best totals for a drama in both measures.
The show has been stock piling stars for its upcoming season, including the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Jeremy Jordan and Sean Hayes, along with last year’s regulars Megan Hilty, Katherine McPhee, Christian Borle and Debra Messing.
