Jeremy Jordan, Norm Lewis, Julia Murney and More Set to Honor Stephen Schwartz With the NY Pops

jeremy_jordanOn April 12, 2013, Tony Award nominee and star of “Smash” Jeremy Jordan, Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis, Julia Murney, Tony Award nominee Jennifer Laura Thompson and Judith Clurman’s Essential Voices USA will join The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall in celebration of Stephen Schwartz. The evening celebrates Schwartz’s 65th birthday as well at the 10th anniversary of his hit musical Wicked.

The concert, called The Wizard and I: The Musical Journey of Stephen Schwartz, will be directed and conducted by Steven Reineke. He will lead the orchestra as the perform highlights from some of the famed composers greatest hits, including “Magic To Do” from Pippin, “Colors of the Wind” from “Pocahontas,” “The Spark of Creation” from Children of Eden and, of course, “The Wizard and I” and “For Good” from Wicked.

Schwartz is a five-time Tony Award nominee for the scores of Pippin, Godspell, Working, Wicked and his lyrics for Rags. He has two Academy Awards for “Pocahontas” and “The Prince of Egypt,” and three Academy Award nominations for his work on “Enchanted.” Schwartz also received Grammy Awards for the recordings of Wicked, Godspell and “Pocahontas.”
