It’s official! Jeremy Jordan has been tapped to star alongside Anna Kendrick in “The Last Five Years” film, adapted from Jason Robert Brown’s award-winning off Broadway musical.
Jordan will play Jamie, a rising novelist struggling in his relationship with an actress, Cathy, played by Kendrick. The musical uses an unusual narrative device: His story is told from the moment the couple first meets, while her story unfolds in reverse, beginning at the end of their relationship.
Richard LaGravenese, who recently directed “Beautiful Creatures,” will direct “The Last Five Years” and also produce the film along with Lauren Versel, Kurt Deutsch and Janet Brenner for Lucky Money Pictures.
Jordan won the 2012 Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut for his performance in Bonnie & Clyde and earned Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for his role in Newsies on Broadway last year. The singer-actor also appeared in “Joyful Noise” with Queen Latifa and Dolly Parton.
