You’ll have to wait a week longer for the much anticipated Les Miserables film adaptation. Universal Pictures has pushed back the release date of the movie from December 14 to December 25, Deadline.com reports.
Life of Pi and The Great Gatsby were originally scheduled to be released on December 25, but have changed their dates, leaving room for Les Mis to get the big date.
The film is directed by Tom Hooper and stars Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russel Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Samantha Bark as Eponine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Sacha Baron Cohen as Monsieur Thenardier, Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier and Aaron Tveit as Enjolras.
Les Miserables is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. The musical first opened at London’s Barbican Theatre in October 1985. By October 2006, it had become the world’s longest running musical.
